New Homes for Old
The S.O.S. Nest Box Appeal
As natural nesting sites diminish further, Suffolk Owl Sanctuary needs your help to maintain an ageing network of wild owl nest boxes that provide safe and secure roosting sites for species under threat.
After a two-year intervention in the progress of our Wild Owl Nest Box scheme, run so capably by Roger Buxton, founder of the Thornham Owl Project and his colleague Kevin until covid made it unwise to continue, S.O.S. is pleased to announce that we are now actively in the process of regenerating this important conservation scheme.
2022 will see us survey the original sites and next year we will begin erecting, maintaining and monitoring the network of nest boxes that provide replacement accommodation for wild owls and other bird of prey species whose natural habitat has been lost or destroyed.
With the ongoing conservation of many iconic native species in mind - Tawny Owls and Barn Owls in particular - the function of the scheme to provide safe and secure nesting sites maintains its importance .
Our “New Homes For Old” wild owl nest box appeal aims to ensure we can continue with this conservation initiative for which, like so many of our expenses, costs escalate and need funds to support it.
ANY DONATION YOU CAN MAKE TOWARDS THE RUNNING COSTS OF THE SCHEME WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED - you can help with a one-off donation or small regular donations of amounts and frequency of your choosing. Thank you!
